Skin Blemish Treatments

Your first visit is an essential time for both you and I to establish what your specific requirements are and whether a suitable and appropriate treatment could be provided. This session is a mandatory requirement prior to treatment and the information gathered is taken in line with GDPR data privacy and protection guidelines.

This session will include:

Personal and contact details Medical history
Skin types, condition/healing reactions Advanced skin analysis (as appropriate)
Contra-Indications Allergy testing (when required)
Contra-actions to treatment After-care products and protocols
Modalities and techniques used Treatment planning

Your questions answered:

Ample time will be given for full information and any questions you need answering to be addressed. If we both agree that treatment would be both appropriate and beneficial, and that a satisfactory outcome may be expected, then a test area will be provided (where suitable). Please be assured there is never any obligation to continue with any treatment either at the outset or during a course of treatment. However, it must be noted that results cannot be guaranteed, and expected results may only be reached after sufficient treatment has been provided and the client/patient uses their recommended pre and post-treatment products and follows the advised protocols.

Skin blemishes:

Diathermy is the main modality used for the treatment of various unwanted skin blemishes. It is may also be referred to as ‘High Frequency, Radio Frequency and Thermolysis’. Diathermy techniques have proven to be an extremely ‘safe and a precise’ way to treat many superficial skin abnormalities. The general aim is to dry, dehydrate or cauterise superficial benign blemishes/skin tissue. Only the epidermis (the upper renewable layer of the skin) is affected with this technique. In many cases full removal can be achieved, or indeed a considerable reduction of the colour or size of the blemish. However, it is likely that in some cases more than one treatment will be required to achieve the best possible results. Also, meticulous aftercare by the client will be a most important factor for achieving the required outcome. The recommendation is that many conditions benefit from not having exposure to UV light both pre and post-treatment to gain optimum results.

N.B. – Very occasionally some blemishes may need medical referral and/or written permission prior to diathermy treatment. Occasionally, the use of topical anaesthetics may be an option for the individual and will be discussed as to the benefits and risks at the consultation. However, in the majority of cases it is not necessary.
